Zimbabwean businessmen from different areas of activity have left Mozambique after attending a seminar on trade and investment promoted by ZimTrade, aimed at exploring business opportunities with their peers in Mozambique. At their meeting on Monday, Tete province’s permanent secretary Lina Portugal said there is a growing trend of exports from Tete to Zimbabwe, especially products such as kapenta, cotton, explosives for mining, among others.
She told APA in an interview on Monday that “from this perspective, we would like to invite all the business people present here, both Zimbabweans and Mozambicans, to take advantage of investment and business opportunities, given that the province of Tete has a wide range of natural resources.”
According to Portugal, in recent years there has been an increase in commercial activity among Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries.
Zimtrade’s chief operating officer Vuyiswa Mafu said his country’s entrepreneurs leave Tete province immensely satisfied by the exchange of experiences and established partnerships with businesspeople in Tete province.
“We will be able to take advantage of what we have learned here from the businessmen in this province, which we consider to be very rich in natural resources, and the business environment is favourable for Zimbabwe,” he said.
