Two people have been seriously injured in buffalo attacks in the Chinonanquila neighbourhood of the Matola-Rio administrative post in Boane district, Maputo province.
In separate incidents, a pregnant woman and 12-year-old boy were attacked by the buffalo as they were returning home after work.
Chief of the Matola-Rio administrative post, Filidio Sitoe, confirmed the attacks, saying that the buffalo had been menacing communities in the area for about a week.
Sitoe added that negotiations with wildlife authorities to locate and shoot the animal were underway.
Sitoe observed that there had recently been an uptick in reports of unrestrained movement by wild animals in Chinonanquila, Matola-Rio.
The two victims of the buffalo attack have recovered and are out of danger.
