The World Food Program (WFP) is to offer support to about 30,000 people affected by armed attacks in Cabo Delgado. In addition to suffering from the insurgents’ actions, some families were also victims of Cyclone Kenneth.
WFP support for the victims of the armed attacks in Cabo Delgado goes to the three northern districts where hundreds of families have abandoned homes and villages in response to the armed group which has been carrying out acts of terror against civilians and military personnel there since 2017.
In addition to the victims of the armed attacks, WFP will continue to support families affected by Cyclone Kenneth, with humanitarian aid being distributed through the food for work system to assist in the reconstruction of the province.
The official number of victims of the armed attacks is not yet known, but, according to statistics, Cyclone Kenneth is confirmed to have affected more than 200,000 individuals.
