The president of the Tax Mozambique Authority has said that inefficiencies in cargo terminal operation are costing the state thousands of meticais.
Amélia Nakare recently visited Maputo’s international cargo terminals in to evaluate the fiscal and state security risks and pinpoint losses due to inefficiencies.
The president of the Tax Authority noted losses of many thousands of meticais due to inefficiencies in their operation.
She was visiting the terminals to evaluate fiscal risk and security risk in the handling of postal packages, and came away with an idea of how much the state loses through systematic failures in procedures regarding the handling of goods.
Errors identified in TIEPO [Terminal Internacional de Encomendas Postais] also occur in the International Air Terminal. Vulnerabilities in controlling the flow of passengers and cargo need to be corrected.
