On September 29, INATUR organised a youth excursion to Maputo Special Reserve to give the young people an opportunity to learn to value and preserve the environment and encourage them to engage in sustainable tourism.
Approximately 30 students aged from 12 to 15 years of age from public schools in Maputo were selected in coordination with the city’s Directorate of Education and Human Development.
The activity took place during World Tourism Week in the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development but, with the support and involvement of other partners, INATUR and the Directorate of Education and Human Development expect to make it an annual event.
The Maputo Special Reserve tour was accompanied by a guide who explained the historical and cultural value of the reserve, bolstering awareness of good tourism practices and encouraging the students to help assure the sustainability of the environment.
