The ship which left from Maputo on Sunday containing aid for the victims of Cyclone Idai in Sofala arrived in Beira last night, and donations are expected to reach the needy on Tuesday.
“The more than 1,400 tons of various products transported by ship from Maputo to Beira, offered by anonymous national and foreign citizens, started with an initiative by a group of Mozambicans called the “United for Beira” movement, created to support the victims of Cyclone Idai,” O País reports.
The ship also carried goods and equipment donated by public and private companies and aimed at the restoration of communications and electricity in Beira.
