The city of Beira will soon host a charity soccer match between two teams led by two of Mozambique’s most cherished footballing sons – Reinildo Mandava and Gildo Vilanculos.
The face-off is scheduled for Sunday, June 26th, and proceeds will be donated to charities working with Beira children.
The Match for Solidarity aims to help disadvantaged children in the city, therefore entry is free for children, while adults’ entry will be secured by delivery, on site, of non-perishable food products, to be later channelled to disadvantaged children in the city.
The announcement was made jointly by the two athletes on social networks, saying: “It is a chain of love, of protection, because the times they were not easy, they are not better and, those times which are coming, do not allow us to rest.”
“All the products that we raise at the event will be donated to charities, in order to help make children happy in this month dedicated to them.”
The two Mozambicans were both born in Beira, and both currently play their football in Europe – Reinildo in Atletico de Madrid, Spain, and Gildo Vilanculos in Amora FC, Portugal.
The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. at the ‘Caldeirão do Chiveve’ – Campo do Ferroviário da Beira, Sofala province.
