Renamo’s statement was made by Antonio Muchanga an hour before the start of the meeting of the Joint Committee which prepares meetings between Nyusi and Dhlakama.
Renamo demanded the termination, by the government, of the attacks against its positions, those in the country’s central region in particular, to allow the resumption of political dialogue.
The appeal was made on Wednesday, May 25, by the spokesman of the main opposition party António Muchanga, one hour before the starting time of the meeting of the Joint Committee with representatives of the government and Renamo, which will prepare a meeting between Dhlakama and the President, Filipe Nyusi.
“It is prudent to demonstrate with concrete actions that dialogue is the main solution of the conflict between us, telling the military offensives that are taking place in Gorongosa, for example, and other corners of the country to stpo, so as to ensure that president Dhlakama focuses in the political dialogue taking place in Maputo, “reiterated Muchanga.
The meeting goes on behind closed doors and, accoding to sources in the committee, there will only be a joint statement after the meeting.
