The president of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, Veronica Macamo, has been visiting Japan since yesterday, accompanied by MPs from all parliamentary parties, namely the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo), currently in government, the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), the main opposition party, and the Mozambican Democratic Movement (MDM).
The visit comes at the invitation of the Japanese parliament and aims to consolidate relations and friendship and solidarity between the two countries, according to the communique from the Assembly of the Mozambican Republic.
Veronica Macamo has scheduled meetings with Japan’s Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and Japanese diplomacy chief Kentaro Sonoura, as well as a meeting with officials from the Japanese parliament.
