Vehicle traffic is interrupted on two roads in Cabo Delgado and restricted on another due to intense rain recorded in that part of the country, a note cited by ‘Notícias’.
According to the National Road Administration (ANE), the Macomia-Oasse section of the N380 connecting the districts of Macomia, Muidumbe and Mocímboa da Praia has been cut by the rising waters of the Messalo river, which overtopped the aqueduct and road platform.
The second, according to the note, is the Mecufi-Mazeze section of the R760 which connects the districts of Mecufi and Chiúre, interrupted following the rise in the water level of the Megaruma river, which overflowed and submerged the metal bridge and the road platform.
Another road affected by the floods is the Metuge-Mahate-Quissanga section of the R762 between Metuge and Quissanga districts, with restricted passability due to the overtopping of the bridges over the Clitis and Montepuez rivers and of the road platform.
The ANE has dispatched technical teams to monitor the situation and assess the damage for interventions as soon as weather conditions improve.
