Police in Mozambique detained 126 people last week for disobeying the state of emergency measures imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the corporation announced today in a statement.
In the note on last week’s operations, the police said that 52 vehicles and 63 motorcycles were seized by the authorities for breaking the state of emergency.
The communiqué said that the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) continue in permanent readiness in the operational theatres in the north and centre against the armed groups that are leading attacks in some districts of the two regions.
Mozambique is experiencing the second cycle of the state of emergency since 7 August, after the first state of emergency and three extensions since 1 April because of the new coronavirus.
The country has had 4,039 infections and 23 deaths due to Covid-19.
The coronavirus pandemic that causes covid-19 has caused at least 851,071 deaths and infected more than 25.5 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a balance made by the French agency AFP.
