Ingvild Mucauro was named the MVP of the FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup 2019 in recognition of driving Ferroviario de Maputo of Mozambique to being crowned African champions for the second time in a row.
The Mozambique international was a constant factor for the Mozambican champions throughout the competition and played far more minutes than any of her team-mates, which told the story.
Mucauro, who has been a force to be reckoned with in recent years, especially with the Mozambican national team, did a bit of everything to try and help Ferroviario defend their continental crown.
She was a key factor for the Mozambicans who defended their continental crown, contributing 20 points, 14 rebounds and six assists in the 91-90 overtime triumph over five-time African champions InterClube.

The 27-year-old guard averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds in five games prior to the Saturday’s final. And in one of her best displays, she powered Ferroviario with a team-best 25 points in an 84-73 victory against Egypt’s Al Ahly.
Mucauro was joined in the All-Star team by teammate Odelia Mafanela, InterClube’s Astou Traore, Kelsey Mitchell of Al Ahly and Sporting Alexandria’s Shawnta Dyer.
It was Traore’s first appearance in the tournament having spent most of her career in Spain, France and Turkey.
There was more celebration for Mozambique, and Mafanela came up strong, playing one of the best games of her career, finishing with important 22 points and seven rebounds.
Egyptian side Al Ahly finished in third place, and Mitchell was fundamental finishing with a tournament-high 29 points per game.
Meanwhile, Dyer’s 19 points and 10 rebounds in six games spoke volumes for hosts Sporting Alexandria who claimed a fourth-place finish.
