The head of Frelimo’s Central Brigade in Inhambane, Filipe Paúnde, said this weekend that the Frelimo candidate for the Presidency of the Republic would not be announced at the party’s 12th Congress in September.
Paúnde, this weekend engaged in preparations for the Congress, said it would not be there that the candidate was chosen.
“Everything is planned. Congress has its objectives and Frelimo is not in a hurry. Mozambicans will be informed about the matter in due course,” Paúnde added.
Paunde was speaking on the sidelines of a conference to consider motions to be taken to Congress, which will include the role of Mozambicans in preserving and strengthening national unity, an important condition for the country’s development.
Another motion covers improving party governance, so as to bring it closer to the population.
After the present conference, party cadres will return to their bases to collect submissions on motions for the 12th Congress in September.
