The Government, this morning, promised to publicise and clarify the boundaries of the 12 new local authorities. The information was advanced by the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, in response to a concern raised by opposition deputies.
Regarding the need to extend the territorial limits of the Municipality of Matola-Rio, the minister said that the proposal had been taken note, but that certain steps must be observed. “And in this first one, we only bring the proposal for its creation,” she underlined.
Parliament’s Public Administration and Local Power Commission urged the Mozambican executive to clarify and announce the territorial limits of the new local authorities before the start of the voter registration, scheduled for April next year.
The Assembly of the Republic meanwhile approved this Wednesday morning, in general terms and by consensus, the law creating the new municipalities of the administrative post of Matola-Rio and the town of Marracuene, in Maputo province; Massingir (Gaza); Homoíne (Inhambane), Caia (Sofala), Guro (Manica), Morrumbala (Zambézia); Mussoril (Nampula); Chitima (Tete); Balama and Ibo in Cabo Delgado, and Insaca in Niassa province.
