The Judicial Court of Maputo province in Matola has sentenced four citizens accused of disturbing the voting process in last Tuesday’s elections.
The four citizens were charged with attempting to cast pre-marked ballots in the ballot box, disrupting public order at polling stations and assaulting a police officer.
The provincial chief prosecutor in Maputo, Evelina Gomane, explained that the trial of these citizens had scrupulously respected the provisions of electoral law.
“The penalties applied were based on what the law provides for. They range from five days to six months in prison,” she said.
