The Chief Commander of the Mozambican Republic Police advocates for a joint effort with neighboring South Africa to combat crime, particularly transnational crime.
Bernardino Rafael highlighted the need to delve deeper into the phenomena that frequently occur across the two borders, especially concerning human trafficking and drug trafficking.
The Chief Commander of the Mozambican Republic Police also emphasized that to maintain a good neighborly environment between both countries, there should be a Police Brotherhood where criminals from Mozambique cannot find refuge in South Africa and vice versa.
Bernardino Rafael made these statements in Maputo during the Bilateral Ministerial Meeting with the Deputy National Commissioner of the South African Police.
Furthermore, the Chief Commander of the Mozambican Republic Police mentioned that crimes harm the country’s economy, hence the necessity to expand mechanisms for combating them.
