Maritime authorities in Inhambane will take out of circulation all vessels for transporting people and goods that have not been inspected by next Tuesday.
The annual inspection of vessels for transporting people and goods has been ongoing since last March.
So far, only 8 out of the 93 vessels operating in the main crossings of the Inhambane province have been inspected.
The delegate of the Maritime Transport Institute in Inhambane, Dinório Mutumane, warns that within days, a coercive inspection will be conducted, including the inspection of licenses for maritime transport activities.
He emphasizes that vessels showing mechanical deficiencies and other administrative irregularities will be fined and prevented from operating.
Currently, the action is focused on the Inhambane Bay, where about 6,000 people cross the sea daily.
