The Mozambican government has temporarily taken over direct responsibility for the production of biometric identification documents at the end of the contract with Belgian company Semlex, which has been manufacturing these documents since 2009.
According to information confirmed this Friday to Noticias on the sidelines of the XXVII Coordinating Council of the Ministry of Interior (MINT) in Bilene, Gaza province, the production of documents is being carried out by Mozambican technicians and it is expected that by the end of next week the new company responsible for the process will be known.
According to permanent secretary Zefanias Muhate, although Semlex has not delivered all of the document production system, Mozambican technicians are doing their best on the basis of what they have learned individually in recent years, given that Semlex has never implemented a training program.
