Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário has reiterated that the government is committed to paying its debts to suppliers of goods and services.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 6th Business Environment Coordinating Council on Sunday, Do Rosario added that payment would contribute to the revitalisation of the economy.
“At the moment we are in the final phase of validating the state’s debts to suppliers of goods and services for the period 2007 to 2017. We expect to announce how the payment of the debt will take place soon,” the prime minister said.
Do Rosário also said that the business environment in Mozambique was on track in terms of compliance with the matrix of priorities agreed for this year, based on the mid-term evaluation of the degree of implementation of the 11 actions contained in the document for 2018.
However, to fully comply, the pace of implementation of the reforms must be accelerated, the prime minister pointed out.
Do Rosario also said that, in the context of improving the business environment, the legal instrument on national content remained a government priority.
“We will therefore continue to work together with the private sector to find a proposal for a legal instrument on national content that reflects the current dynamics of the national and international market and which contributes to the improvement of the business environment,” he said.
“In the tax reform component, we are modernising tax administration services through the implementation of the e-taxation platform, which ensures the payment of taxes through the banking system,” he said.
“The effective implementation of this platform will reduce the time and costs to the private sector of paying taxes, and improve the system of management and collection of tax revenue,” Do Rosário said.
