The so-called “Samito affair” is neither an agenda item nor a priority for the 3rd Ordinary Session of the Frelimo Central Committee, to be held May 3-5 at the Party’s Central School in the city of Matola, the party’s Secretary for Communication and Public Relations Caifadine Manassehas says, cited by weekly newspaper ‘Domingo’.
The Central Committee of the Frelimo party is holding a scheduled meeting this week to consider the agenda approved by the Political Committee, including a debate on a report on party activities, feedback from the Verification Committee, the party’s electoral strategy for the general election of October, a directive on the election of members of the National Assembly and members of the provincial assemblies and an appreciation of the 2019 electoral legislation, among other matters.
The session comes at a time when there is speculation about the relationship between Central Committee member Samora Machel Junior and Frelimo.
Samora Machel Júnior is accused of violating the party’s statutes by agreeing to head the AJUDEM list in the Maputo City Council elections last October. The list was rejected on the grounds of it having insufficient support.
