The General Commission of Mozambique for EXPO 2025 (COGEMO) has been conducting a campaign to promote the Japan EXPO in all provinces of the country since March 7, 2024.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the campaign aims to share information about Mozambique’s participation in that universal exhibition, and above all, to engage all segments of society in their involvement in the mega event to be held in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
The campaign, carried out through conferences, has been led by multisectoral teams headed by the General Commissioner of COGEMO, Riduan Adamo, and the Deputy General Commissioner of COGEMO, Cândido Zaqueu.
Meetings have been held with local government (provincial secretaries of state, provincial governors, state representation councils in the province, provincial executive councils), educational institutions, the private sector, artists, and other entities.
So far, the campaign has covered the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Zambézia, Tete, Inhambane, and Gaza, with all committing to be involved in the preparation and participation in EXPO 2025 Osaka.
The General Commissioner for EXPO 2025, Riduan Adamo, states that the ongoing work aims to involve all sectors of society and identify the main contents of the country to be exhibited in Japan, in accordance with the chosen theme. On the other hand, Riduan Adamo expressed the need for local governments and the private sector to work closely together to better prepare the country to participate in this exhibition.
The General Commissioner gives a positive preliminary assessment of the work carried out in the provinces, judging by the engagement of the different stakeholders in the meetings held so far.
The exhibition, which began the countdown on April 13 this year, will have two components: in-person and virtual. In this order, the Commission encourages the participation of all provinces, and at this stage, each province will be able to survey all the potential it possesses and design the content to be presented during the EXPO.
The Mozambique Pavilion will provide space for each province to exhibit its potentialities in all aspects during the exhibition period.
EXPO 2025 will also provide opportunities for the private sector to market its products and services.
Mozambique’s participation will be an opportunity to share innovative experiences and develop joint efforts with other countries and participants from around the world to overcome the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and reflect on the protection of human life, contributing to a fairer society in various areas.
For 2025, the global theme “Designing the Society of the Future for Our Lives” has been chosen, with Mozambique participating with the theme: “Education and work using artificial intelligence and robotics.”
In the same year, the world will be just five years away from 2030, the year the United Nations has set as the goal for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), making it crucial to intensify efforts to achieve them.
Mozambique has already participated in seven exhibitions of this nature, promoting the potential and investment opportunities existing in the country, the progress made in economic, social, environmental, and cultural domains, establishing partnerships, and contributing to solving the global problems facing humanity.
