The government of Cabo Delgado is considering banning the advertising of sexual stimulants in public markets. Governor Júlio Parruque raised the possibility during a provincial primary health care meeting.
The newspaper O País reports Governor Parruque as saying that the exposure of the public to products that stimulate sexual activity was abnormal in that it encouraged the population, and especially the young, to indulge in promiscuous sexual activity.
To reduce promiscuity and consequently reduce new HIV/Aids infections, the Cabo Delgado government was considering banning the sale of sexual stimulants at local fairs.
“At our fairs and shows we want natural products that combat mosquitoes, and thereby reduce fever. We want to see our agricultural produce at shows, combating malnutrition,” said Parruque.
According to O País, the second provincial primary health care meeting was attended by members of the provincial government, district administrators, health technicians, community leaders and cooperation partners.
