The 39 citizens arrested on Wednesday in Balama, Cabo Delgado province, are workers of a logging company which holds a valid licence to operate in that part of the country.
The clarification was presented on Thursday by police spokesperson Orlando Mudumane, in response to press questions.
“We have to clarify that, following further investigations, the 39 individuals who were detained Wednesday in Balama were found to be workers of a logging company. They were on their way to open a [timber] yard, and are not terrorists. The workers have resumed their journey in the truck,” Mudumane explained.

Mudumane was speaking at a press conference called to deny any police authorization for an alleged demonstration on a national scale announced via digital channels.
