By 2030, the Mozambican government will invest about 56 billion meticais in aquaculture, across seven of the country’s provinces.
Director-general of the National Institute for the Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Verónica Namashulua, said in Maputo this Friday that the investment, part of the Strategy for the Development of Aquaculture, was aimed at addressing the food deficit in Mozambican communities.
Namashulua noted that Mozambique already produces about 3,000 tons of fish in captivity per year, and has the potential to produce four million tons more.
