Mozambique: Nampula residents announce peaceful demonstration against fuel crisis

Another businessman was kidnapped in Maputo on Wednesday ( 27 September). According to information received by MZNews, the victim is known as ‘Sanjay’ and is the owner of a commercial establishment which sells ‘camisetas’, in downtown Maputo (Baixa).
A video circulating on social media (see below), shows Sanjay being kidnapped from his Maputo store by two armed men at around 2:15 p.m. this Wednesday (27-09).
As can be seen, one of the kidnappers pretends to want to buy something before pulling out a pistol and jumping over the counter to drag the victim from inside , holding him down with the help of an accomplice, also brandishing a pistol, who had meanwhile entered the premises. The two kidnappers then push their victim outside and into a vehicle waiting at the entrance of the store before driving off.
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique has not yet commented on the case.

The kidnapping takes place three days after businesswoman Sheinaz Gani was released by her kidnappers after four months in captivity. According to ‘Integrity’ magazine, she was released due to ill-health and the family’s inability to pay a ransom.
