Mozambique: Northern provinces on alert for heavy rain from Tuesday

The Facebook page ‘Anti-Raptos-Beira’ announced on Monday that Sheinaz Gani has “returned to family life, after being in captivity for 4 months and 9 days”.

News website MzNews also reported on Monday that Sheinaz Gani, who was kidnapped on May 16th, had been released.
People close to the family told MzNews that Sheinaz Gani was released on Sunday night, somewhere in the city of Maputo.
“She’s apparently fine. But psychologically depressed”, sources close to the matter siad, MZNews reports.
Sheinaz Gani, a 47-year-ol businesswoman and owner of tConfecções Sabina factory, had been kidnapped along Avenida Karl Marx, in the city of Maputo by individuals hitherto unknown.

Months later, the businesswoman appeared in a video which went viral on social media, begging for help and revealing that she ways tortured by the kidnappers everyday.
“I’m asking for help, please, my brother doesn’t want to help. Father, I’m not in good health, I don’t have medication, I don’t have food, father please. Sell my house, sell the factory, I don’t want anything, I just want to come home and take my daughters, nothing else, father”, she pleaded in the video.
At the end of August, the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) of the City of Maputo, through its spokesperson, Hilario Lole, revealed that it had captured one man in connection with the kidnapping of Sheinaz Gani, highlighting that it had also identified other fugitives, whose arrest warrants had already been issued.
