Internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Cabo Delgado accommodated in the Corrane Reception Centre in Meconta district, Nampula province, are complaining that the food assistance they are receiving does not meet their needs.
There are more than 600 families in Corrane now, making more than 3,000 displaced people altogether, mostly children.

Interviewed by Radio Mozambique on Tuesday (09-03) during a visit by President of the Nampula Provincial Assembly, Amisse Mahando, to the centre, the displaced families said that the food they were receiving did not meet their needs, and asked the government and other supporting entities to try to remedy the situation.
Amisse Mahando said he acknowledged their plight and recognised the need for more support.
Another concern expressed by the displaced concerns their lack of clothing and of mosquito nets to prevent malaria.
Radio Mozambique learned from the local authorities that none of the IDPs living in Corrane have so far returned to their areas of origin and that, on the contrary, more displaced persons continue to arrive.
