Forty-six people sustained injuries of varying degree in an accident on the EN4 in Matola, Maputo province, today.
The accident involved three vehicles – two heavy and one light. According to witnesses, a tanker lorry on the Tchumene-Malhampsene route crashed into the rear of a Toyota Hiace mini-bus, which consequently crashed head-on into a passenger coach.
The accident resulted in serious and minor injuries to 46 persons. Victims were ferried to Matola Provincial Hospital for treatment.
Police blame speeding by the tanker driver for the accident.
