Weather alert for southern Mozambique

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) is forecasting, by the end of the day, a change in weather conditions in the southern part of the country, with severe thunderstorms and weak to moderate rainfall in the provinces of Maputo and Gaza.
Speaking in Maputo on Tuesday, INAM spokesperson Acácio Tembe said that rainfall would be highest in the northern parts of Gaza province, with between 30 and 50 millimetres falling in 24 hours.
Tembe warned that the low pressure would extend into Manica and Sofala provinces, causing thunderstorms and moderate-to-strong rainfall by the end of Thursday.
