As countries in the region work to ease trade among them, the reduction of import taxes is jeopardising the collection of tax revenues, President of the Mozambican Tax Authority Amélia Nakhare has warned.
To find solutions to the new foreign trade realities, the Tax Authority held a meeting on Friday to discuss ways to broaden the tax base in order and finance state spending.
Nakhare noted that, from 2006 to the present, the contribution of domestic tax revenues to the state budget has risen from 30% to 50%.
