Some 540,000 hectares of corn, beans, rice and other crops were reported lost in Mozambique as a result of bad weather in the first half of the year.
The Mozambican government has nevertheless declared that first half conformance with the Economic and Social Plan is positive, at fifty-four percent of anticipated activities.
Other bright spots in the national economy are the reduction of inflation to 2.3 percent in the first half of this year, against 22 percent in the same period last year.
The figures were announced by Ministry of Economy and Finance spokesperson Rogério Nkomo at a press conference on progress on the Economic and Social Plan and implementation of the State Budget for the first half this year in Maputo this Wednesday.

Regarding expenditure in the first half, the government had 122. 8 billion meticais available, of which it spent 119.9 billion.
