Portugal's far-right Chega hit by allegations against three members
Nyeleti Brooke Mondlane was born on 17th of January 1962 and is currently serving as Minister of Combatants. She served as Minister of Gender, Children and Social Action of Mozambique. Nyeleti Mondlane previously served as Minister of Youth and Sport.
She was born on 17th of January 1962 in Onandagua, Syracusa, New York, United States of America. She is the daughter of Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane, PhD Professor in Anthropology, and Janet Rae Mondlane, PhD in Sociology.
She started and completed her primary studies at the International school in Tanzania, until 1970. Then she travelled to Mozambique, where she continued her secondary studies at FRELIMO Secondary School, Bagamoyo, in 1974, and at FRELIMO Secondary School in Ribaué, Nampula province, until 1980. Later, she entered higher education, obtaining a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Social Anthropology) from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in 1987. She obtained a Certificate in Conflict Management, from Uppsala University, Sweden, and from distance, took the master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Liverpool.
Throughout her career, she worked in several institutions. She was assistant to the Executive Director of LONRHO Mozambique for the areas of Tourism and Human Resources, between 1990 and 1994 she was Manager of RIGOCHE, between 1995 and 2001 and she was a founding member of the Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane Foundation in 1999. She coordinated the HIV / AIDS program in Office of the Coordinator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 2002 coordinated the Positive Life Program, between 2004 and 2006 she assumed the Presidency of the African Women’s Academy (WAFA), in 2010 she became a Member of the Assembly of the Republic, in the seventh legislature, between 2009 and 2015.
She is a member of FRELIMO, the Executive Committee of the Association of National Liberation Struggle Combatants (ACLLN), the Mozambican Women’s Organization (OMM) and the 8th of March cell of Sommerschield, in Maputo, collaborated with the Department of Foreign Affairs and belonged to the brigades of Zambézia and Tanzania.
