Mozambique: Police concerned about murders of women in Sofala
Margarida Adamugy Talapa is the chairperson of the Mozambican Parliament, the Assembly of the Republic. She was born in Memba, Nampula province, on June 5 1962.
Margarida Talapa previously served as Minister of Labour and Social Security (2020 to January 2025).
She is the third Mozambican woman to serve as Parliament Speaker. She succeeded Esperança Bias, who chaired the body from 2020 to January 2025 and Verónica Macamo who had served in the same post for the previous ten year in the post s. Macamo had succeeded Eduardo Joaquim Mulémbwè who, in turn, had replaced Marcelino dos Santos.
