Zimbabwe’s Vice President Kembo Mohadi arrived in Mozambique on Sunday evening to continue with the assessment of liberation war shrines so that those in bad shape can be rehabilitated.
He arrived at the Maputo International Airport shortly after 6pm.
The Zimbabwean Vice President was received by Mozambique’s Minister of Combatants Nyeleti Mondlane, Mozambique’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Carvalho Muária, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique Dr Victor Matemadanda and other senior Government officials.
Mohadi was coming from a similar exercise in Tanzania, which was preceded by visits to Zambia and Angola.
The visit is part of the Zimbabwean Government’s efforts to document and preserve the legacy of the liberation struggle and honour those that were killed.
On Monday, Kembo Mohadi is expected to pay a courtesy call on Mozambican Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levy in the morning, before departing for Chimoio to start assessing the state of the shrines.
They are set to discuss a range of issues including a strengthening of relations between the neighbouring countries that share a rich common history.
Afterwards, VP Mohadi will leave for Chimoio, where he will visit shrines put up there. Chimoio is located in Manica province and was the headquarters or training camp for ZANU during the liberation struggle.
