The Zambézia Provincial Judicial Court this Tuesday sentenced a pastor to 17 years in prison for ‘marrying’ a minor, allegedly for divine reasons.
In addition to 17 years in prison, the man was also sentenced to a fine of up to two years at the daily rate of 100 meticais, and to pay a 38,000 meticais compensation to the minor’s family for material damage.
In a sentence handed down this Tuesday in Quelimane, the presiding judge of the fourth section of the Zambézia Provincial Judicial Court, Alexandre Zandamela, convicted the 39-year-old defendant of the crimes of sexual intercourse and premature union with a 12-year-old.
