The wife of the Governor of Maputo is joining efforts with Beluluane Industrial Park to offer 75 scholarships for unemployed and disadvantaged young people in the local community.
The 75 scholarships, awarded under the Beluluane Industrial Park social responsibility programme, will be officially bestowed at 9:00 a.m. on 20 September.
The young men and women between the ages of 18 and 30 will have three months training in the areas of locksmithing, basic electrical skills and the maintenance and repair of air conditioning at the Armando Emílio Guebuza Industrial Institute.
The initiative aims to reduce unemployment and poverty in the community through measures that develop local labour skills and promote self-employment. After their initial training, the young graduates will take up internships the local labour market.
In response to one of the main concerns of the local population, companies located in Beluluane Industrial Park and partners gave free training to about 45 youngsters in 2015 and 2016, with most of the trainees afterwards kept on by the same companies.
About Beluluane Industrial Park
The Beluluane Industrial Park was created in 2000 as a public-private partnership in Maputo Province’s Boane district. It is Mozambique’s largest industrial park, and was established with a free trade zone component as a way of stimulating economic growth in the country. It currently houses 35 enterprises, and currently employs more than 5,000 workers.
As a socially responsible entity, Beluluane Industrial Park has developed strategic actions to support the community in various sectors of activity and meet the needs of residents across the province.
