Young man detained for killing brother in exchange for money in Tete

A child of only seven years of age has been murdered in Zumbo district, Tete province, by his own brother and two other citizens and his heart and the genitals extracted in exchange for 400,000 meticais (US$6590 at current exchange rates).
One of the suspects, identified by the name of Yossefe Gaula, 18 years old, is the brother of the victim. The three defendants are already in custody.
According to the Provincial Police Command in Tete, the young man confessed to the macabre act after being caught trying to sell the heart and genitals.
Gaula, of Minga in the administrative post of Muze, told law enforcement officers that he killed his brother because someone promised to pay him 400,000 meticais and other benefits.
Police told A Verdade that the accused tried to abandon the heart and genitals on the street, but was stopped by people round about, who immediately warned the police.
Gaula claimed that the mastermind of the crime was a man called Samissone Ivulande, but at the time of going to press the authorities had not yet been able to locate him. A search is ongoing.
