Mozambican Juvenal Bucuane wins the 2025 José Craveirinha Literature Prize

After the great success of its first series of Classical music concerts in Maputo in May, Kulungwana is presenting a second series, running from the 12th to the 14th of August.
The voice is the instrument in this series, and on the 12th and 13th of August listeners are invited to a concert at theTeatro Avenida at 7:30 pm featuring the beautiful South African voices of Caroline Modiba (soprano), Minette du Toit-Pearce (mezzo-soprano), Thobela Ntshanyana (tenor) and Raimondo Van Staden (baritone). Also featuring are the Mozambican voices of young Xiquitsi students Marcia Massicame (soprano), Helena Manhiça (mezzosoprano), Isolina Guiambula (contralto), Vanósio Sive (tenor), Aílton Matavela (baritone), Moisés Cossa (baritone) and Francisco Fumo (bass), accompanied on piano by Philippus Hugo and the Xiquitsi Choir under the direction of Maria Guimarães.
The series ends with a narrated concert for youngsters and adults entitled “Afternoon for Parents and Children ” on the 14th at 4:00 pm in the Centro Cultural Universitário ( UEM) with the Xiquitsi choir and orchestra.
Mozambican oboist Eldevina (Kika) Materula is the Artistic Director of the Xiquitsi project.
