Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met with Prime Minister of Mozambique Maria Benvinda Delfina Levi, who is in Beijing for the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women.
Xi noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, China and Mozambique have withstood the test of international changes and their traditional friendship has remained rock solid.
China is ready to continue firmly supporting each other, strengthen strategic coordination, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and further deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to jointly write an even more glorious chapter for the next 50 years, Xi said.
The Chinese president stressed that China supports Mozambique in independently exploring a development path suited to its national conditions and in safeguarding national unity and stability.
China stands ready to strengthen cooperation with Mozambique’s government, political parties and legislative bodies, and to deepen exchanges on governance experience, he added.
The two sides should take the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as an opportunity to deepen practical cooperation, Xi said, calling for joint exploration of new paths of integrated and coordinated development in energy, mineral resources and infrastructure construction.
Xi urged faster progress in building the Mozambique-China Cultural Center to enhance people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding.

Levi stressed that China is a trusted partner of Mozambique. She reaffirmed Mozambique’s firm commitment to the one-China principle and expressed willingness to learn from China’s development experience.
Mozambique stands ready to deepen cooperation with China in trade, energy, mining, science and technology, and education to boost its own economic and social development and better benefit its people, Levi said.
She added that Mozambique supports the four major global initiatives proposed by China, appreciates China’s contribution to world prosperity and stability through its own development, and is willing to strengthen multilateral cooperation with China to promote a more fair and equitable global governance system.
