This year, the Tridisciplinar was preceded by a photographic exhibition titled “Kinani Through the Lens” which opened on September 5 at Camões – Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo.
Exhibition
The exhibition portrayed the long history of the International Platform for Contemporary Dance (KINANI), which has been promoting contemporary dance in Mozambique and the region since 2005, with special emphasis on the International Contemporary Dance Festival.
The opening day of the event was dedicated to a conversation entitled “Art on Art”, which gave participants the opportunity to debate photography and the performing arts, and created a dialogue between different stakeholders.
On Tuesday, young choreographer and dancer Rosa Mário presented her piece “Connections” at the Fernando Leite Coito Foundation. The dance portrays the life of a woman and the various dreams that keep her connected to everyday life. Benjamin Manhiça took the stage to present his play “Preferia” at the same location.
Yesterday at 6:00 p.m., Pak Djamena presented his latest work “Uma Vina Feminina”, featuring Daniela Coelho and Flore Chabernaud, at the Brazil Mozambique Cultural Centre. The performers explored body language as the fundamental object that produces a state of presence.
On the last day of the event (today), the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre witnesses a performance of Lulu Sala ‘s “Shifting”, a work that exalts mental and corporal freedom, and “Sentido Único” by Ídio Chichava, a performance that seeks to interrogate marginality and how the social context exposes issues related to exploitation, violence, harassment, betrayal, submission, limit and explosion.
