World Bank finances irrigation projects in Mozambique: US$90 million for six years

The World Bank will provide funding of about US$90 million for agricultural irrigation projects in central Mozambique, announced Rádio Moçambique (RM).
The funding aims to minimise the impact of drought in parts of Manica, Sofala and Zambézia provinces.
The coordinator of the integrated sustainable irrigation project in the province of Manica, Leonardo Lucas told RM that funding – which will run for six years – aims to increase production and productivity in the regions covered by the project.
The irrigation project will benefit 11 areas covering a total of 355 hectares.
