Mozambique: Central bank cuts interest rates - AIM report

The Mozambican government and the World Bank recently signed three financing agreements totalling US$131 million for the implementation of social projects in the country.
The amount is intended to finance the implementation of social protection projects, support the education sector and national statistics development and data collection, budgeted at US$10, US$59 and US$62 million respectively.
“The social protection project aims, inter alia, to support the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Action (MGCAS) in institutional strengthening and consolidation of the National Strategy for Basic Social Security and updating poverty and vulnerability maps of existing social services and assistance programs at the district and municipal levels,” a press release from the Ministry of Economy and Finance sent to AIM yesterday reads.
In turn, the project to support the education sector will ensure greater access and quality of education, train primary teachers, support the production of textbooks and curriculum reform.
Meanwhile, the national statistics and data development project will improve the production and dissemination of quality statistics, strengthen monitoring of macroeconomic and fiscal management in Mozambique and increase the quality of production and dissemination of statistics for development.
