University students from distinguished universities across Mozambique participated in a Gas-Focused Essay Contest organized by the CWC Group, and sponsored by Anadarko and Mozambique LNG, as part of the Mozambique Gas Summit.
The contest is part of Educational Partnerships initiative in which companies support and encourage university degrees that enable skilled professionals in areas of engineering, geology, oil and gas exploration and others, much needed for the sustainable development of Mozambique’s gas industry and the future of the country’s economy.
Fourteen students entered the contest by submitting essays that explored the gas and LNG industry of the country in one of three topics:
Gas & LNG Projects in Mozambique: Challenges and Opportunities for Development
Oil and Gas Prices’ Fluctuation in International Markets: Strategies to Adapt and Overcome its Effects
The Investment Environment in the Development of Gas & LNG Projects in Mozambique
The participating universities included Universidade Lúrio, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Universidade Católica de Moçambique and Universidade Zambeze.
The CWC Group and Anadarko are pleased to announce the Essay Contest Winner: João Américo Júnior from Universidade Lúrio.
His winning essay, which looked at the Benefits and Challenges in the Gas and LNG Projects in Mozambique, was awarded the most points by a Jury from Anadarko, ENH and the CWC Group.

The prize for João Américo Júnior is the opportunity to participate in the Mozambique Gas Summit throughout the 3 days of the event (with expenses paid for by Anadarko and Mozambique LNG) enabling him to get an insider’s view of the industry, meet gas leaders and engage in insightful discussions about the future of the industry.
The Educational Partnerships initiative highlights one of the key topics of the Summit; the development of National Content legislation to protect and develop the country’s human resources. The Summit will begin with a full day dedicated to National Content, followed by 2 days of strategic panel discussions focused on the opportunities available to develop current and future gas projects.
