Tiring of consuming dust from the Minas de Moatize complex about 300 metres from their homes, residents of the Chithatha neighbourhood are appealing to the President Nyusi for help.
Residents says years of appeals to district and provincial authorities have gone unanswered, and their daily subjection to aerial coal dust is giving them chronic coughs. They are demanding speedy resettlement.
Miramar’s reporter tried to contact the management of the company, but was unable to get any information concerning the concern of the residents living near the mine because the director was not available.
