Weather Warning: Moderate to heavy rains, thunderstorm in central and northern Mozambique

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) forecasts continued moderate to heavy rain (30 to 50 millimetres in 24 hours), locally very heavy (more than 50 millimetres in 24 hours) with gusts of wind and accompanied by severe thunderstorms in the following districts:

Metuge, Mecufi, Chiure, Balama, Montepuez, Ancuabe and Pemba city (in Cabo Delgado province);

Mecula, Mecanhela, Marrupa, Nipepe, Cuamba and Mandiba (in Niassa Province);

Angoche, Moma, Murrupula, Ribaue, Malema and Lalaua (in Nampula province);

Lugela, Mulumbo, Luabo, Mopeia, Inhassunge, Maganja da Costa, Namacurra and the city of Quelimane (in Zambézia province);

Chiponde, Changara, Marara, Doa, Angonia, Tsangano, Chiuta, Moatize and the city of Tete (in Tete province);

Mossurize, Susundenga, Barue and the city of Chimoio (in Manica province);

Buzi, Nhamatanda, Maringue, Caia, Marromeu and the city of Beira (in Sofala province); and

Massinga, Vilankulo, Inhassoro, Govuro and Mabote (in Inhambane province).

Partly cloudy to very cloudy skies are expected in Gaza and Maputo provinces; light to moderate rain in Inhambane province, with a light to moderate southeast wind, blowing with gusts.
