The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) reports that a low pressure system has formed northeast of the Mozambique Channel, in the southwest Indian Ocean basin, with the potential to evolve to the Moderate Tropical Storm stage on May 2nd.
Also according to INAM, the current projection indicates a high probability of this system approaching the north coast of Mozambique, affecting the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula with moderate, locally strong rains, strong gusty winds and severe thunderstorms.
INAM, therefore, urges the public to continue monitoring meteorological information and warnings issued by the authorities.
A tropical low NNW of #Madagascar can strengthen as it drifts SSW then WNW this week. System will bring rounds of heavy rain to #Comoros & #Mayotte through Friday. Heavy rain can impact #Tanzania & northern #Mozambique this weekend. pic.twitter.com/GXQqF1JEXg
