Mozambique: 'Unprecedented' high temperatures recorded in 2024 - report

Mozambique’s National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) had placed 24 districts in three provinces on alert. Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane provinces are warned of high winds and moderate to heavy rains from the end of today until Saturday (International Labour Day).
In the province of Maputo, the districts of Matutuíne, Namaacha, Boane, Moamba, Magude, Manhiça, Marracuene and the cities of Maputo and Matola may be affected by the bad weather.
In Gaza, strong winds and moderate to heavy rains may affect the districts of Chókwe, Bilene, Chongoene, Chibuto, Guijá, Mandlakazi, Limpopo and the city of Xai-Xai.
In the province of Inhambane, the alert is for the districts of Zavala, Inharrime, Panda, Homoine, Jangamo and the cities of Maxixe and Inhambane.
Going forward, the situation may influence the weather from Saturday in in the provinces of Sofala and Manica, with the occurrence of showers or moderate rainfall, locally strong, and thunderstorms with gusty winds.
