The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) predicts high temperatures this Thursday, with maximums from 36 to 39 degrees Celsius. The heat wave will hit the provinces of Maputo and Gaza, with strong gusty winds, thunderstorms and local showers expected at the end of the day.
In view of the possible discomfort caused by the intense heat, INAM recommends taking appropriate precautionary and safety measures.
INAM predicts intense heat for the districts of Boane, Moamba, Magude, Manhiça, Marracuene and the cities of Maputo and Matola in Maputo province; and in Massangena, Chicualacuala, Mapai, Mabalane, Ndindiza, Massingir, Chókwe, Chonguene, Bilene, Limpopo, Mandlakazi, Chigubo, Chibuto, Guijá, Chongoene and the city of Xai-Xai in Gaza province.
For the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado and Nampula, partly cloudy skies are expected with the possibility of local fog and light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.
In the provinces of Tete, Zambézia, Manica and Sofala, INAM predicts generally clear skies with local fog or mist and light to moderate east to northeast winds.
