More than 1,000 fines in first week of plan to curb traffic accidents in Mozambique

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) has forecast heavy rains (more than 50 mm/h in 24 hours) for the provinces of Sofala, Manica and Tete, locally very strong (more than 100 mm/h in 24 hours) and accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Risk areas are Chemba, Caia, Maringue, Marromeu, Cheringoma and Gorongosa districts in Sofala province;
Manica Province: Machaze, Mossurize, Sussudenga, Macate, Gondola, Manica, Vanduzi, Barué, Macossa, Tambara, Guro and Chimoio districts;
Tete Province: mainly the districts of Changara, Cahora Bassa, Mágoè, Marara, Doa, Mutarara, Moatize, Chiúta, Tsangano, Macanga, Chifunde Marávia and Tete city.
INAM recommends taking precautionary and safety measures associated with very heavy rains, thunderstorms and gusty winds.
