The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) forecasts for the next few hours the occurrence of very heavy rains, (more than 75 millimetres in 24 hours) and temporarily accompanied by severe thunderstorms and winds with gusts up to 60 kilometres per hour in almost all the districts of the provinces of Nampula and Cabo Delgado.
Bad weather will also be felt in the districts of Gurué, Alto Molócué, Gilê, Namarrói, Lugela, Milange, Pebane and Ile (Zambézia province); and in the districts of Mecanhelas, Cuamba, Metarica, Maúa, Mecula, Marrupa, Nipepe, Majune, Ngauma and Mandinba (Niassa province).
Mozambican meteorologists predict that the low-pressure system will gradually move into the provinces of Nampula and Niassa, and warn that it will continue to influence the weather, characterised by widespread rainfall over the northern region of the country, until Friday .
